Does anyone know of a used, cheaper car, dependable that would be sold for under $750?   How about a one-bedroom place, affordable, for a young man and his dog?  Snow is a-flying… and I want to help this fellow, helping us with so many tasks at church, get out of his car as now his temporary place to sleep. This friend has been staying in my home, but my dog Chase, is not too excited about it (about the dog I mean). I would be pleased to help pay for his monthly rent until he is able to make his own payment in landing a job given the many applications he has filled out. Ideas?

You see this RED color!  Tomorrow is Reformation Sunday, a celebratory remembrance of Martin Luther and the contributions of those who over the centuries hanged the Church for the better (YOU?).  Come to worship tomorrow in person or via Zoom dressed in RED!

You know that Lenora Moore passed.  How fitting that tomorrow is Reformation Sunday.  Lenora was our in-house Luther and Lutheranism expert. Her funeral will most likely take place closer to Thanksgiving.

Our Broncos take on the Chiefs tomorrow afternoon… forget what I said about RED!!!

Joy to you!

Pastor Mike Lemke

PS: The liturgy for tomorrow is somewhat different.  Mom put together the worship format (included here) as well as hymns and pertinent announcements. Thanks Mom!  And faithful Craig who makes sure we get the Celebrates… (and weekly Communion Bread)!  You rock Craig!

PSS: Sorry about the delay in getting into Bible Study the other night… and thanks Steve Wilson and son Trevor for saving the day… err… night.  I was away from my home the other evening and… wifi challenged… I had trrouble opening up the meeting… the study.  Sorry and thanks for your patience!!!

Reformation Celebration

Prelude

Call to Worship and Announcements

P:  God of shelter, God of strength,

C:  Mighty Fortress, saving God

P:  Even if the earth shudders, even if mountains slide into sea depths, making

     the waters churn and seethe, we shall not be afraid.

C:  You are with us, God our stronghold, God of Jacob.

P:  Joy streams through your city, through your sacred dwelling.

C:  You are with us, God; the city cannot fall.

P:  At dawn you scatter the enemy; kingdoms topple, earth crumbles at the

      sound of your voice.

C:  You are with us, God our stronghold, God of Jacob.

P:  Come!  Let us see God’s wonders and saving deeds!

C:  God breaks the bow, snaps the spear, burns the shield, stamps out war.

P:  “Be still!” says God.  “Know that I have power over all peoples.”

C:  You are with us, God our stronghold, God of Jacob.

Opening Hymn   “A Mighty Fortress”……………………………………..(Vs. 1, 2, 4) .. ELW 504

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

  1. A mighty fortress is our God,
    A  sword and shield victorious;
    He breaks the cruel oppressor’s rod
    And wins salvation glorious.
    The old satanic foe
    Has sworn to work us woe!
    With craft and dreadful might
    He arms himself to fight.
    On earth he has no equal.

2. No strength of ours can match his might!
We would be lost, rejected.
But now a champion comes to fight,

Whom God Himself elected.
You ask, who this may be?
The Lord of Hosts is He.
Christ Jesus Mighty Lord,
God’s only Son adored.
He holds the field victorious.

4. God’s Word forever shall abide,
No thanks to foes, who fear it;
For God Himself fights by our side
With weapons of the Spirit.
Were they to take our house,
Goods, honor, child or spouse,
Though life be wrenched away,
They cannot win the day.

 The Kingdom’s ours forever.

Hymn of the Day  “Lord Keep Us Steadfast in Your Word”……. (Vs. 1, 2, 3) ……ELW 517

Lord, Keep Us Steadfast in Your Word

  1. Lord, keep us steadfast in your Word;
    Curb those who by deceit or sword
    Would wrest the kingdom from your Son
    And bring to naught all he has done.

2. Lord Jesus Christ, your power make known,
For you are Lord of lords alone;
Defend your holy Church that we
May sing your praise eternally.

3. O Comforter of priceless worth,
Send peace and unity on earth;
Support us in our final strife
And lead us out of death to life.

The Nicene Creed…

C:  We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.  We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made.  For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human.  For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.  On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.  He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.  We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.  We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.  We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.  We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.  Amen.
