NOVEMBER OUTREACH REMINDER

OUR OUTREACH FOCUS FOR NOVEMBER IS THE SECOND WIND FUND.  Founded in 2002, the Second Wind Fund has served over 5,800 children and youth at risk for suicide.  They take a different approach to this serious mental health issue.  They have an innovative program that matches children and youth, ages 19 and younger, with a licensed therapist in their community.  Up to 12 counseling sessions are made available to youth at risk for suicide. Referrals to the program typically are generated by school mental health staff, but home-schooled youth or those no longer in school are also eligible for counseling services. Second Wind Fund’s program helps referred youth discover hope and healing in their lives.

METRO CARING NOVEMBER FOOD FOCUS: The Outreach Committee has designated CANNED FRUIT AND/OR VEGETABLES for those less fortunate. Please place your food donations in the boxes located in the narthex marked “Metro Caring.” A Big Orange Box, located outside, can be used for donations of any kind – anytime!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:  Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to over 168 million children in more than 100 countries. Shoebox gifts are a way to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thank you, everyone, for providing the filler items (school supplies, small toys and personal care items) to fill the boxes.

Working through a Thrivent Action Team Program, Carin Davis has bought items with grant money from Thrivent to put together shoe boxes. Everyone is invited to help assemble the boxes during the fellowship time this morning!

SPECIAL OUTREACH PROGRAM:  Through HarvestShare, full food boxes will be taken to MetroCaring before Thanksgiving to be given to families in need. Because of your generosity, these families will experience a blessed Thanksgiving.Thank you for providing the food items for the boxes.
