And a couple of quick announcements….
1.  I will be visiting our shut-ins at least 2 times a month, bringing them communion.  Would you be willing to take on ONE shut-in from our church, committing to see him/her at least once a month?  We can coordinate the times so that a Cross of Glory visit could take place virtually every week.
2.  In a little less than a month, you have opportunity to see our own Colorado Rockies baseball team play the Chicago White Sox at Coors Field for Faith Day Sunday.  The game will be played at 1:10 PM on Sunday, August 20th.  After a Rockies WIN, you can stay and enjoy a Christian concert… all of this for the low price of $20 per person!  Not a second base steal, you understand, but a real… well…. you get it… a steal of a deal!  Maybe you cannot go, but in support of our church, you will buy a ticket nonetheless that we can give to prospective newcomers to our church.  In fact, I am hoping that we will have a rooting section (in the shade) of 40 Rockies yellers! Commit to a ticket for yourself and/or another ticket for a new Cross of Glory friend.  When purchasing tickets, make your check out to Cross of Glory but earmark “Rockies” in the subject line.
3.  Now is the time for you to be bringing Yard Sale items to church for our annual sale.  Please price your items ahead of time sensibly.  We want to be making money for our church but don’t be outlandish either. We so appreciate Shelly Blakely for taking on the project once again.  AND IF YOU HAVE ALREADY GRABBED SOME ITEMS FROM OUR BACK ROOM, PLEASE TELL SHELLY… AND BE SURE TO PAY FOR THE ITEM(S) PROMPTLY!
4. It is coming Cross of Glory… it is coming…. Choose to be part.  Be the difference!
Joy to you!  See you the morning!

Gathering Hymn

“The King of Love My Shepherd Is”

ELW Page 502

(Verses 1, 2, 3)

 1.

The King of love my shepherd is,
whose goodness faileth never.
I nothing lack if I am his,
and he is mine forever.

2.

 Where streams of living water flow,
my ransomed soul he leadeth;
and where the verdant pastures grow,
with food celestial feedeth.

3.

Perverse and foolish, oft I strayed,
but yet in love he sought me;
and on his shoulder gently laid,
and home, rejoicing, brought me.

Sermon Hymn

         “Break Now the Bread of Life”

          ELW Page 515

          (Verses 1, 2, 3)

1.

  Break now the bread of life, dear Lord, to me,
as once you broke the loaves beside the sea.
Beyond the sacred page I seek you, Lord;
my spirit waits for you, O living Word.

2.

Bless your own word of truth, dear Lord, to me,
as when you blessed the bread by Galilee.
Then shall all bondage cease, all fetters fall;
and I shall find my peace, my All in All!

3.

You are the bread of life, dear Lord, to me,
your holy word the truth that rescues me.
Give me to eat and live with you above;
teach me to love your truth, for you are love.

Closing Hymn

“Sent Forth by God’s Blessing”

ELW Page 547

(Verses 1, 2)

1.

Sent forth by God’s blessing,

our true faith confessing,
the people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The supper is ended,

Oh, now be extended
the fruits of this service in all who believe.
The seed of Christ’s teaching,

receptive souls reaching,
shall blossom in action for God and for all.
Your grace shall incite us,

your love shall unite us
to work for your kingdom and answer your call.

2.

With praise and thanksgiving

to God ever living,
the tasks of our everyday life we will face.
Our faith ever sharing,

in love ever caring,
embracing God’s children

the whole human race.
With your feast you feed us,

with your light now lead us;
unite us as one

in this life that we share.
Then may all the living

with praise and thanksgiving
give honor to Christ and his name that we bear.
