SUPER (SOUPER) BOWL PARTY

The San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing, not our Broncos… this year! Nevertheless, any Super Bowl deserves a party – and that is what will be happening at Cross of Glory on Super Bowl Sunday, February 11 beginning with Pregame activities at 4:00 PM with favorite snacks provided by YOU, followed by the kickoff at 4:30  PM. To help us reach our goal of 10,000 cans of soup for Metro Caring, the admission is one can of soup per person. You may bring MORE SOUP – and MORE FRIENDS/FANS if you like!

FAT TUESDAY BREAKFAST

Before Lent, the season for fasting and penitence, begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14, we are participating in an event, Fat Tuesday, where we consume all remaining foods that might be forbidden during Lent, such as meat, eggs, etc. Michael Schettler is providing these items for us at Cross of Glory for breakfast on Tuesday, February 13, 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM! Donations will be accepted to help defray costs and to support the work of helping  people in our community! Admission is at least one can of soup for our Metro Caring Soup Drive!!!  Please plan to attend AND INVITE OTHERS.   We would love to share our ministry with the world.  Help us to make that happen!  Cross of Glory is a unique faith based family with much love and ministry to share!

GATHERING SONG

“How Good, Lord, to Be Here”  ELW Page 315(Verses 1, 2, 5)

1.

How good, Lord, to be here!
Your glory fills the night;
Your face and garments, like the sun,
Shine with unborrowed light.

2.

How good, Lord, to be here,
Your beauty to behold
Where Moses and Elijah stand,
Your messengers of old.

5.

How good, Lord, to be here!

Yet we may not remain;

But since you bid us leave the mount,

Come with us to the plain.

HYMN OF THE DAY

“Christ Be Our Light”

 ELW Page 715

(Verses 1, 2, 3, 4)

1.

Longing for light, we wait in darkness.
Longing for truth, we turn to you.
Make us your own, your holy people,

light for the world to see.

Refrain
Christ, be our light!  Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness. Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

2.

Longing for peace, our world is troubled.
Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has pow’r to save us.

Make us your living voice.

Refrain
Christ, be our light!  Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.  Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

3.

Longing for food, many are hungry.
Longing for water, many still thirst.
Make us your bread, broken for others,
shared until all are fed.

Refrain
Christ, be our light!  Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.  Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

4.

Longing for shelter, many are homeless.
Longing for warmth, many are cold.
Make us your building, sheltering others,
walls made of living stone.

Refrain
Christ, be our light!  Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.  Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.
