EDUCATION: Tuesday Evenings

On Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM, we continue to press on in the moving story of the early Church!  Thank you, Steve Wilson, for leading us through chapters of the Book of Acts! Make plans now to join us.

Be looking for the mini-series, “A.D.” on your home televisions. Coming out a few years ago, “A.D.” is an EXCELLENT depiction of first century Christianity, taking up the formation of the Church immediately after Jesus’ resurrection. As we study the Book of Acts, “A.D.” promises to be an incredibly, absolutely wonderful resource!  Check it out!

Thank you also, Steve, for sharing this amazing reminder for us.

Meditation

Steve Wilson, our Education Chairperson, shares: It has been said that prayer is talking to God, while meditation is listening to God.  Meditation is a discipline that can bring you closer to God and closer to our spiritual nature. After your morning shower, you can go into a room, close the door and commune with our Creator.

God is, in part, Spirit. For us to experience our Heavenly Father we need to follow the Biblical directive – “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).  We close our eyes, take deep breaths, and allow our minds to cease the inner chatter and actively listen to the silence.  You may be waiting for an answer to some of life’s problems that have caused you to worry and despair.  Your quiet time will be a respite from the turmoils of your day-to-day life.

Meditation is a wonderful habit to adopt.  It allows you to dedicate each day to the Lord and begin anew in His love.  After 5 to 20 minutes, you end your meditation with a prayer of gratitude and prayers for others in our life.  The best time to start is now and in no time at all you will begin to feel the benefits of meditation.
