January Outreach & Evangelism Focus

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY DENVER

Our January benevolence is dedicated to Habitat for Humanity. Cross of Glory has been assisting Habitat for many years, in many ways. A number of our members have volunteered by helping to build homes, volunteering at the stores and by contributing to Habitat monetarily.

As most of us have not been able to continue to help build, our church is making a financial contribution to support this program that helps so many in Denver to live comfortably in their own homes.

Thank you for helping Habitat of Humanity Denver any way you can!

Our 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, who recently passed into greater life to be with our Lord, was actively involved with Habitat for Humanity. He dedicated himself to alleviating human suffering. In addition to promoting peace and human rights through the Carter Center, President and Mrs. Carter led the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project for Habitat for Humanity for more than 30 years. Together, they’ve worked alongside over 108,100 volunteers who have built, renovated or repaired more than 4,447 homes in 14 countries, all while raising awareness of the critical need for affordable housing. Thank you, Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter!

Metro Caring’s
January Item of the Month —> SOUPER BOWL SOUP

**** **** **** **** ********* ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ****

Last year, Pastor Mike set a goal in February to collect 10,000 cans of soup for Metro Caring for the Souper Bowl. We tried, but we did not meet that goal.

So this year, in addition to our November and December Outreach Item of the Month of “Your Choice,” we also included a suggestion of “soup” to help us reach our goal of 10,000 cans of soup prior to February’s Super Bowl to be brought to Cross of Glory for Denver’s hungry and needy.  With your weekly contributions and the aid of our Gambler Anonymous groups meeting at Cross of Glory who ran with our challenge, so far, we have delivered over 3000 soup cans to Metro Caring! We will try again by collecting and donating cans of soup for two more months, January AND February. We can do it!  Start filling our narthex and Big Orange Box (BOB) with all the cans of soup you ‘can.’

I hope the New Year brings you peace and joy.
