MARCH OUTREACH FOCUS

OUR MARCH OUTREACH FOCUS ORGANIZATION IS ELCA WORLD HUNGER.  Food shortages and hunger have been, and continue to be, an unfortunate reality in our world.  Nearly one in ten people in our world today are hungry.  The Lutheran Church has long had a tradition of helping others in need, and for 50 years, ELCA World Hunger has ministered to people experiencing hunger and poverty.  The organization works with and through Lutheran congregations in the United States, Puerto Rico, U. S. Virgin Islands as well as other partners overseas to reach communities in need.  More information about ELCA World Hunger can be found on their website, https://www.elca.org/our-work/relief-and-development/elca-world-hunger.

Available in our sanctuary are copies of the publication, Lent Study 2025, which provides information about various U. S. food banks and ministries supported by ELCA World Hunger.  Also available with the Lent study are Lent calendars that provide thoughts for reflection during this holy season.  Please take a copy of these materials home and share extra copies with others.

March Item of the Month
SOUP, SOUP – SOUPER BOWL SOUP

**** **** **** **** ********* ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ****

For the past couple of years, Pastor Mike has set a goal to collect 10,000 cans of soup for Metro Caring for the Super (Souper) Bowl. First year, we tried, but we did not meet that goal. This year we began collecting  earlier in the year.  By nearly the end of January 2025, we had delivered over 3400 cans  to Metro Caring.

It’s March now!  Our attempt to reach our 10,000 cans of soup goal continues! We can do it! Start filling our Big Orange Box (BOB) with all the cans of soup you ‘can.’  A SUGGESTION – for those who are attending worship at Cross of Glory or stopping by, make it a priority to bring a can(s) of soup with you – with your Bibles, of course!!
