Important info regarding our ZOOM worship for Sunday, July 26

Hi Cross of Glory!

God is good!  I heard it numerous times this last week!  After more than a day of birthing labor, Dave and Meridith Jones’ granddaughter gave birth to a healthy baby girl this morning a little after 7!  Edie Meridith (named after her grandmothers) came into to the world. Baby and Mom Megan are doing fine!  God is good!  And then, two days ago, a day earlier than expected, Jack Joseph Lugo showed up, weighing in at a fighting weight of 7 pounds, 7 ounces!  Pam and Sergio Lugo are the proud, proud grandparents.  Once again, baby and mom Sarah are doing great.  And… once again… God is good!  God is so very, very good!

You see below the blue link to tomorrow morning’s worship service.  Please pass it on to others who may want to tune in.

I spent time with Jamie Winter yesterday.  Jamie is hiking on Sunday mornings with his wife Terri and dog Max during our worship services.  Jamie told me that a number of people that they routinely see on their hikes now recognize my voice and ask them how ALL OF US AT CROSS OF GLORY are doing!  Great evangelism Jamie… and using your seldom-seen days off (Jamie’s construction business is deemed essential and consequently, Jamie and his brother Jody are SO busy during the week) to hike, to stay in even better shape is a super idea also.  Just don’t hike SO often that you are spent to help with our yard sale on Saturday, August 8 (Jamie is one of the few people who over the years gets to our church by 6 AM to help move yard sale items from our building onto our lawn!).

And speaking of our yard sale… yes, as I wrote you earlier this past week… our Cross of Glory Yard Sale is on!  Keep going through your closets, drawers, cabinets and garages!  Let us know if you have items for our sale!  PLEASE PRICE YOUR ITEMS!  I spent several hours at the church yesterday going through our many already donated things.  Of the hundreds of things already donated, only about 60% of the items were priced.  Keep your donations coming… but please help us out and price your items ahead of time!  Thank you!

As for the worship service tomorrow, you note in the blue link that I have specified a beginning time of 9:30 AM.  Our worship service will still begin at 10 AM,  but TOMORROW ESPECIALLY, I hope that you will sign on earlier.  I have been asked to try “broadcasting” our ZOOM worship services from our Cross of Glory sanctuary instead of my home den (something I am pleased to do).  Some of you have mentioned these last months that our Easter service (the last worship service broadcast from our sanctuary) had some hiccups, some long pauses and consequent distractions.  The service lasted about 2 hours.  Hopefully, we have learned over the months since to better use ZOOM and avoid such concerns.  I should know fairly early tomorrow morning whether our sanctuary “hiccups” have become “unhiccupped!!!”  Your signing on early… and allowing me to “test” our broadcast BEFORE 10… will give me a good idea of how the ZOOM service will function (the wifi connection may have been the biggest problem).

If there is a slight hint of problem or distraction in broadcasting from our sanctuary tomorrow morning, I will IMMEDIATELY pack things up and drive the 25 minutes back to my home den to do our worship service from there.  Understandably, we would start worship maybe 10 minutes late (around 10:10 AM).  I would rather have Chase my dog sitting on my lap during worship as the distraction rather than an annoying lapse in technology connection!

Thanks for your patience… and as we are accustomed to doing at Cross of Glory much of the time… rolling with it!!

Council people!  Please remember to have your typed committee reports emailed to Mom, Mary Lemke at lemkemj@comcast.net by TOMORROW, Sunday, July 26.  With both our Yard Sale (Saturday, August 8 from 8 AM to 2 PM) AND Outdoor Worship Service the next day (10 AM Sunday, August 9) we want the monthly newsletter Mom puts together to get to as many people ASAP this August.  Typically, we send out about 70 newsletter a month to those who do not have mailslots at church nor emails.  THESE DAYS HOWEVER, though still putting our newsletter on our website (Thanks Mom and Nancy Barlow), we are sending out closer to 100.  We are including offering envelopes in our newsletters (especially given the pandemic and our inability to collect offerings via offering plates during worship) while thanking ALL in our congregational membership AND beyond for their gracious… and necessary… continued financial support of our ministry).

And lastly council people, please continue regularly to be making your phone calls to our dear, dear people at church.  Thank you!

Well, did you get all of that???

Enjoy this cooler (even monsoon, rainy?) beautiful, Colorado weekend!!!  See you in ZOOM tomorrow morning, Sunday, July 26 either from the familiarity and comfort of our sanctuary or coziness of my Chase and Dodge den!!!  Grin
