March 9th Worship plus Pastor Mike “Thoughts for the Week”

Good morning Cross of Glory!
Before you complain about the snow, remember that in Colorado there is probably a better chance that we get snow around Easter than around Christmas!

I will be at the church tomorrow by 9:30 to pray with anyone who desires prayer.  Meet me in the Fellowship Hall.

A couple of things…

1.  Lent has begun.  If you cannot join us for worship at 12 Noon in our sanctuary or via Zoom on upcoming Wednesdays, perhaps it works better for you to attend my wife Barb’s church service at 7 PM on Wednesdays.  There is a soup supper before at 6.  Maybe this is the excellent alternative you seek.

2.  I intend to give communion to all our shut-ins this upcoming week.  Care to join me for the visits?  Talk with me.

3.  You note that I sent you the materials for Tuesday night Bible Zoom studies this Lent.  Our first session will be this Tuesday at 6:30 PM, March 11.  Plan on deepening your faith and drawing closer to God as you invest in daily Lenten discipline. Julie Prange is arranging for me to get these materials a week in advance.  So as not to confuse you, I will be sending new materials AFTER the Tuesday we did the one we should be doing… a week before you will need it.

I look forward to working with Prince Michael in our congregation in preparation for his Confirmation at the end of October. I need some teachers to present to him Confirmation materials at church. probably on Sunday mornings at 9.  There are teacher guides to the materials you will be sharing.  Any helpers?

A huge thank you to Michael Schettler for an unmatched Fat Tuesday breakfast last Tuesday morning!  If you missed it… well… you missed it….

It looks like the best date to see Wes Munsil in “Fiddler on the Roof” will be Saturday evening, March 29th.  Tickets will be around $50.  Talk to me if you want to go with me in support of him.

See you active in your church!

Pastor Mike Lemke

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME BEGINS ON SUNDAY, MARCH 9!!!  REMEMBER TO “SPRING FORWARD” ONE HOUR ON SATURDAY, MARCH 8 – AND ENJOY THE EXTRA HOUR OF SUNLIGHT ON SUNDAY, MARCH 9!!!

EVERY SUNDAY AT CROSS OF GLORY

Worship Service/Holy Communion  at  10:00 AM  and With Zoom Technology.

It’s an amazing way to begin your Sunday!

POWER HOUR PRAYER MINISTRY

We are encouraged to pray.  God knows our needs, our joys even before we approach heaven’s throne of grace. God wants us to pray because WE WILL BE THE BETTER FOR IT!

BEFORE WORSHIP EACH SUNDAY, BEGINNING at 9:30 AM, we invite you to join us in our Fellowship Hall for 20-25 minutes of concentrated prayer. Joining other friends from church, we pray for ourselves, for others, for all.  Be better! Enhance your friendship with God… and with one another!

TUESDAY, MARCH 11

TUESDAY 6:30 PM BIBLE CLASS

Our Tuesday 6:30 PM Zoom Bible Class will resume on Tuesday, March 11.  Our Lenten study will focus on the book, In God’s Presence: Your Daily Guide to a Meaningful Prayer Life. Unfortunately, the book is currently out of print, but there are several copies available for loan from the church. Please talk to Pastor Mike or Julie Prange if you would like to borrow a book. Scanned images of the material have been sent via e-mail with more to come. We hope this study will deepen your Lenten experience and give additional meaning to your daily prayer life.  Please plan to join in the weekly discussion class that begins at 6:30 PM.

Cherry and John Test have selected “Burritos” as our theme.  They will provide the burritos! Everyone is encouraged to bring side dishes, cake, cupcakes, possibly rice, beans, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce and/or shredded cheese, fruits, vegetables, etc. that will enhance the burritos!  A signup sheet will be passed around Sunday to indicate what you would like to provide!

REMINDER

MARCH OUTREACH FOCUS

In March, ELCA World Hunger is our Outreach Focus.

In March, our Metro Caring’s Food Item is SOUPER BOWL SOUP!

Everyone is aware of PASTOR MIKE’S GOAL FOR CROSS OF GLORY TO PROVIDE 10,000 CANS OF SOUP TO BE TAKEN TO METRO CARING BY THE  END OF FEBRUARY!!   Even with everyone’s help, including our Gambler Anonymous groups meeting at Cross of Glory who ran with the challenge, we still have not reached that goal!  We have delivered over 3,450 cans of soup. For March, we will continue our attempt to reach that goal of 10,000 cans of soup.  Our March Outreach Metro Caring Food Item is SOUP ONE MORE TIME!!! EVERYONE is encouraged to bring items to COG, leave them in our Big Orange Box (BOB) by our front door or put them in our narthex and someone will take the items to Metro Caring for the many people in need  Thank you for your consideration for this special ministry. Help us to meet that goal by April!!!
